The Columbus City Council voted unanimously to kick off an addition to the new Columbus Zoning Map to include new uses and updated regulations for building and development on Route 161. This vote, on Monday, began a public comment period. We urge you as businesses to register your support (or opposition) and comments on the plans. The comment period is open for 60 days. The detailed information and comments are here.
The Northland Area Business Association has initiated this action by the city, requesting that 161 be included in the new code to increase flexibility for business owners to add apartments to retail parcels and increase development options. Our participation and commitment to the Northland Community is what facilitates our ability to advocate for the business community and create forward progress for our business community. Additional progress can be seen in the inclusion of Route 161 in the “LinkedUS” corridor that will ultimately bring bus rapid transit stations to 161.
