Thanks so much to all of our members and the members of Clintonville Area Business Association for attending an outstanding presentation by Northland author Elana Hohl, who gave a presentation on appreciating the many cultures in our community, and the best ways to get to know new foods, restaurants and ethnic shops in our area.
Elana advised going with a friend to try a new restaurant, asking the staff what they would like to share about their culture and what food you should try, keeping in mind that all of us usually like rice or pasta, and every culture has their version of rice or pasta, which is a good starting point for ordering a new dish. Also tap into “cultural advocates” … someone you know from a certain culture who can be an ambassador for you and introduce you to food and other cultural elements such as celebrations and traditions.
We honored the spirit of adventure with our delicious buffet of food from Brazilian Grill at Columbus Square.
